The Future
It's weird thinking that Im 1/2 way through high school. That in 18 months I'll have graduated and will be starting the rest of my life. I have been thinking alot about what I want to do after graduation and so far it's going something like this:
Move to Saskatoon in September and enroll in the U.of S. in the College of Arts and Science for 2 years to complete my pre-vet courses. I would either like to move there full time and bring my horses with me, or, even better, get a nice car and come home every weekend to ride and take care fo the horses. For the first year, at leat, it looks like I'll be doing the latter.
While in Saskatoon I want to get a job at the Marquais Downs track either exercising or jockeying the race horses. It is one of the top paying jobs (about 1000 dollars a week, working about 4 hour days, 5 days a week) and hopefully i will be able to get in with a trainer there. Unfortunately I am still 18 lbs over what I should be for a "bug rider" (person who rides the super small super young horses) so that'll have to go sometime soon. I have already been watching very carefully what i have been eating (its hard!!!) But its been working I think, I've lost just about 15 lbs since December. So, I'm hoping that will work. Racetrack life is pretty rough apparently, so Im praying I can find a decent trainer, not some druggie alcoholic psycho guy. I have a few people in mind that I know race down there. So hopefully one or two of them have a spot open.
After prevet I would like to take a year off school and travel, get practical vet experience, or perhaps go to Bible School. Then, I want to apply for vet school at the U.of S.
And that is my life (hopefully) for the next 9 years!!!
